It’s going to be a Rolls-Royce Wraith Drophead Coupe, and it’s going to get here in the middle of 2016.

Well, Rolls-Royce did give the date, but didn’t say what the model would be. However, according to a press release, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ CEO said the new model will be capable of “effortless, open-top touring through the perfect marriage of modern Rolls-Royce luxury, style and elegance with an engaging and exhilarating driving experience.” and spy shots have emerged in the past several months of what appears to be a Rolls-Royce Wraith Drophead Coupe.

The 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe was crafted from from Rolls’ largest luxury sedan. A drophead was also created from the “mid-size” Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The Wraith is certainly capable of effortless driving, what we called the British version of Captain America in our first-drive review. The sporty Rolls-Royce coupe is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine making 624 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, and comes with an eight-speed GPS-enhanced automatic transmission and active suspension. Zero-to-60 comes up in 4.4 seconds, but only if you can come up with $284,900. That’s just for starters, because you’re not going to own a Rolls-Royce just like everyone else’s.

Expect nothing less from the Wraith Drophead Coupe.

In a prepared statement, chairman of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Peter Schwarzenbauer said, “The announcement of a new Rolls-Royce model is always a seminal moment in the automobile industry. When it arrives in 2016, this elegant and sensuous new car will build on the success of our current models and will play a key part in fulfilling Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ commitment to long-term sustainable growth.”
